UJ is now ranked in 25 specialized fields, an increase of six from the previous year. It also improved its rankings in 16 ranked subjects and across all five broad subject areas, reflecting the enhanced quality of its academic and research programs.
These results displayed UJ's unprecedented progress in Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Computer Science and Information Systems, Engineering, Mathematics, Tourism, Education, Library and Information Science, Business, and Languages.
In the globally ranked broad subject areas, UJ made significant progress. Engineering and Technology rose to 150th place globally, compared to 253rd in 2024. Social Sciences and Management Studies climbed to 155th globally, up from 227th. Arts and Humanities moved to 190th, up from 347th. Life Sciences and Medicine improved to 284th, previously ranked in the 401-450 range, while Natural Sciences advanced to the 401-450 range from 501-550.
The university achieved significant milestones in the subject rankings, with one of its programs listed among the top 50 universities globally, four subjects in the top 100, nine subjects in the top 200, 17 subjects in the top 300, 19 subjects in the top 400, and 23 subjects in the top 500 universities worldwide.
Specifically, within Arts and Humanities, UJ ranked 217th globally in Linguistics, 231st in English Language, and 289th in Modern Languages. In Social Sciences and Management, it achieved 83rd in Library and Information Science, 119th in Tourism, 147th in Education and Developmental Studies (a new entry), and 367th in Law (also a new entry). In Business subjects, the university ranked 185th in Accounting and Finance, 234th in Business and Management, and 505th in Economics.
In the Engineering and Technology fields, Computer Science and Information Systems ranked 100th globally, up from 149th. Civil Engineering ranked 229th, Electrical and Electronic Engineering 232nd, Mechanical Engineering and Manufacturing 291st, and Chemical Engineering entered the ranking at 398th.
In Life Sciences and Medicine fields, UJ's Nursing program ranked 47th globally, advancing from the 51-100 range. Pharmacy and Pharmacology ranked 100th, while Medicine improved to 285th. Life Sciences ranked 481st, and Agriculture 429th.
In Natural Sciences, Mathematics rose to 119th globally from last year's 201-250 range. Chemistry improved its ranking to 439th. Environmental Sciences and Physics entered the global rankings for the first time, with 500th and 601st positions, respectively.
Notably, UJ stands among the top 900 universities globally as the only Jordanian institution listed in the Shanghai ranking.
